Rutherford County 4-H Wins State Horse Judging Contest

The 2011 Tennessee 4-H Horse Championships kicked off with the State 4-H Horse Judging Contest. Eleven teams competed to represent Tennessee at the Southern Regional and Eastern National horse judging contests. Rutherford County (1293 points) edged out Putnam County (1278 points) for the title. Blount County A (1242 points) finished third followed by Robertson County (1222 points). Montgomery County (1200 points) rounded out the top five.

Rutherford County team members are Shana Boteler, Faith Duke, Kara Lay and Jessie McMahon. Pat Kayser and Mitchell Mote coached the Rutherford County team. The Putnam County team consisted of Kelsey Bussell, Katie Clark, Lindsay Hensley and Jenny Iwanyszyn. Shana Boteler of Rutherford County was the contest high individual. She received the $250 Meadows Family Award for her achievement.
